Traction Transformers
RDSO Approved CTC for Locomotive Traction Transformer Windings
Every locomotive necessitates a transformer to provide power to traction converters/traction motors, auxiliary converters for supporting auxiliary machinery, and to cater to the train’s hotel load. The transformer is mounted underneath the locomotive.
Special insulating papers, specifically Nomex® materials, are employed for the windings in locomotives. Additionally, Continuous Transposed Conductors (CTC) are utilized for the windings in locomotive transformers.
